You Can Help Your Kindergarten Child at Home


1.      to recognize his name
2.      to write his name
3.      to know his address
4.      to know his telephone number
5.      to say the Pledge of Allegiance
6.      to tie shoes
7.      to read numerals 1 to 10
8.      to zip or button clothes
9.      to know the names of colors
10.    to know left from right
11.     to know color words
12.    to learn to recognize geometric shapes: (circle, square, rectangle,
triangle, hexagon,

        oval, cube, cone, sphere, cylinder, rectangular solid)
13.   to compare things at home - shorter/taller, higher/lower, thick/thin
14.   to learn to recognize opposites - big/little, short/tall
15.   to learn to fold paper
16.   to count to 100
17.   to learn to use scissors
18.   to be able to demonstrate: on top of, on, over, under, above, below, behind, between,

       before, after
19.   Read to your child every day.  Read the cereal boxes, read road signs, read store signs, etc.
20.   Read nursery rhymes, poems - recognize rhyming words


PROVIDE PAPER, PENCILS, CRAYONS, PENS, AND ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO SCRIBBLE AND/OR DRAW
