so what is none of us have exactly who am I I just want to kind of go over first couple things about who I am and that way you guys going to have to go with me to your high school so a lot of other parents and students talk about Centennial and Stockdale about Frontier I went to Bakersfield College play baseball Briar Cliff University in Iowa to play baseball as well I have my undergrad in elementary education and I am not I I am currently chasing my masters in administration I'm about halfway through that process so I'm beside very recently I got engaged as the photo of the actual moment and then the very bottom is just me sports sports sports and dogs ice cream is all I all I know and all I really love other than teaching curriculum is very similar to what they had the past few years so for ELA / Grammer / writing is going to be Journeys we will be doing some things as a Ready Common Core book and same with the Think Central app was clever so Italian access Journeys I always tell the students that they have their Journeys mostly passed out but if they ever want to do the reading or follow along with the reading online I like that aspect because they can click on the word they don't know no tell them right away so it is technology it is kind of wishy-washy sometimes but if it does work that's a really good option to use or their books it can also read the story to them so I told them before that twice a week they will read the story so I will read it with them they are supposed to read it alone as well that reading to them count reading it alone I'm fine with that way you can just follow along and Seether Words as they are hearing correctly for Mass we will be in Expressions which is The Orange Box that works there will be rain coming for every now and then just because those are nice something that piece that we like to use this page has different ways of saying information than we do you like to use those sometime the great thing about ready, chords we will use them that's why I mentioned that we are not using Ready Common Core yet I didn't get any of that information from me at all they don't know about it but we will be bringing now and then and then for math we do follow the Common Core State Standards which I know is everybody's favorite thing I am of the mindset of I'm I try to teach him a different ways student for sure just did not is not sucking common core standard I'll try to teach him a different way of solving a problem or working with the formula and then I will still try to bring it back to the Common Core State Standards that's why we're trying to hit but I don't I do not personally keep to just common core I want them to solve problems and the methods they used to do that I'm just going to make sure they solve the problems what will my son be doing this kind of school crash course on what to expect them to be doing. Today whether you are with them or not each week that we working Ela which includes the writing grammar and then reading PE and social studies class science the reason I put the welcome back the reason I put the ELA with writing and grammar only in and reading separate is House shows up in their courses on canvas on canvas you say you're reading it would initially going to ELA just because it's separate course we aren't sure why but we didn't want to change anything we first saw it and now I understand that encompasses writing and grammar that's all there is to it in the course in canvas and then reading is its own separate thing for each subject they will be typically there will typically be an assessment each week so last week we did not have a large math assessment rather we just did quizzes every single day so the quizzes are sensitive class work so we'll see your practice quiz pretty much every single day that's just the four sticks question classworks I'm it's just like in school will be doing guided practice for the classroom and then at the very end. Have next 10 problems alone turned in operate as a crossword that's our class work social studies lyrics assessment every Friday hours Testaments when I always be on Friday so that's why we we sort of try to use that as our way of making sure students if you don't want them to just go okay on Friday once I'm there every single day and working with me every single day that way I know we're making the girls that we need to be doing that all work will be submitted through canvas and gray within the week so that students take feedback and make adjustments to the work these first two to three weeks have been in my mid-twenties I'm sure I have gray hair for these first few weeks as I'm sure a lot of you guys are in y'all on your mid-twenties as well so I know that there's many things that we are learning still working with still trying to figure out so I know a lot of had a few parents send me suggestions with Candice and I work on those so thank you for seeing the suggestions I'm learning you guys are going to do a little Grace has and fantastic I appreciate it I'm still driving myself insane sometimes I'm trying to get things graded yesterday I spent two hours making sure all of the due dates are correct all the grades so before that time I had in my to do list on my Candice grading app it's 75 assignments to grade which was that morning to Simon after that to our. I had 195 the great so it showed a lot of students at they had a lot of missing work and they did not working and kick it in this morning I was up at about 5:30 grading assignments so I'm trying to get caught up as much as possible there's a lot to grade because it's not a lot of credit no credit it's a lot of things that you see back I'm trying to get the feedback as I can. There's an assignment that was those turn into show about Thursday I'm trying to get caught up as much as possible so I will eventually get there these first like I said a few weeks I will be getting caught up and then after that will be smooth sailing Zoom will be recorded in case not able to attend another thing I'm figuring out we're asked him to Dallas into the clouds I'm trying to figure out the cloud even though I knew I don't know the Cloud yet so I'm trying to get all of the if I recorded if I have a mask Zoom for the practice I just record the actual teaching on so if I do record that when I record that I will save it to my computer or cloud and then I will upload it to the videos tab of that day so today is so in freeplay more videos I can click on that and then they accessed the teaching video so if student wasn't there today this morning but they made in the afternoon they can go in that video check out what we did write down their notes in the notebook and then who I work for today it looks like as you guys know I updated this week I kind of wanted to see what it would be like to do this soon after lunch and I just don't think it's the best for our class because I talk a lot as you guys know and I try to keep focus on zoom zoom we're going to discuss the announcements of the day for mrs. Hudson and I will begin our morning work at 1 and work may be a challenging math problem a writing assignment journal entry it depends on the antenna switch it up every now and then I don't want them to be always knowing what's coming I want to kind of throw for all that then every now and then bring them back together again for the math instruction and practice is a class on white are special books different things 10 to 10:15 to recess break for them and me and then 10-15 as a zoom for ELA instruction daily practice that's just going to be going over our story for the week Andy Grammer that we need to go and then writing skills that we are going to practice 11:45 to 12:30 is your lunch break the reason I took the zoom off of the reason I took the zoom after lunch out is because I know self there's 18 boys in the class so I'm sure a couple of them are like me at least a few of them are like me if my lunch is at 11:45 I get done in about 12 I want to get my work started so I didn't like the 12:30 Zoom because I didn't want them to be working for 30 minutes and stop get on Zoom for 10 to 15 minutes and then hot right back into work I want to focus on just their work so I've so they get 30 minutes to complete this work 9:15 till about 10 is our math instruction so they don't have time to do their math work 10:15 to about 11 ish so that 45 minutes I have left is a laworks I want them to have time after lunch to get all this work done I know a lot of students into work until 3:40 and 5 what I want so I think that's because it had so many sporadic Zoom meeting so I think if I put them all together in the morning we stay together till at times about 11 or so and they get their work for the rest of it should be enough time it may be said exchange is based on got to get from the students and families so whatever you guys are observing please let me know through reminder email sad as well I finally feel comfortable with it I think the students are as well so all work first subject will be done in Louis module so we set the modules bye week that way they know what to do that week I would typically put the current week's module at the top that way they can always access it the very first thing they see will not be taking the previous week's module because there's a lot of students that may have missed assignments I don't want to take it off if they still need to work on it so the previous weeks will always be below the most current just so everyone can understand the numbering system if today's or yes work was 3.3 math if I say 3.3 math the first number is the week number so yesterday was this is 1/3 weeks OB week 3 day 3 so the third day of the week was Wednesday Wednesday at 5 p.m. that's the fifth week Tuesday works that way they can know hey you forgot to do 1.40 that was first week Thursday so I'm going to check that out the math Daniel a Zumiez will be recorded and put into the days of your page mentioned with 3.3 3.3 videos and graded so please don't feel like there's no point in submitting if it is late I know the first two weeks I've had multiple students a will address turn in on due date so I just figured it wasn't worth it the biggest blow to my chest because I will Mark things late if it's very late so with our grading system on a go to that Quizlet 2 days late after due date will receive a 80% one day after the due date is 90% 2 days after the due date is 70% assignments turn in a week or later will receive a zero so I do now or see anybody turning anything in a week late I will still great it but if it's multiple multiple weeks I will not even remember what it was for the most part I see the highly light so I don't want them working on something from three weeks ago that they forgot it so that's why I'm going to do every Friday soon to be checking each course in their canvas to check the grade and see what can be done to improve do you have access to the Grave I'm going to put the link to the video on how to access that because if I did it it make this video 45 minutes long so I will take that link to the video and I will put it with this video in my staff page on North is website City or North Elementary you going to staff and then by my name towards the very bottom cuz my last name and at the very bottom of my homepage you will see this video and you will see the link to mrs. Hudson explaining how to work a canvas troubleshooting and what not with that every Friday we will be doing a a great check so that 8:30 meeting I'll be talking about what we did for the week and kind of if there's an assignment that just more than 10 people are missing I'll go over that explain it and then they'll have 45 minutes until the next Zoom to get that work figured out write it down somewhere so they know what to work on and then Friday we'll be little makeup time it's typically Friday will be assessments and just like end of the week things activities so they have a little more time than usual so that time will be used for makeup that way they know they're staying on top of their game at the work if a student is absent I'm not very stingy on turning in works if they're absent two days in a row I'll give them two to three days to turn in if they just don't for or don't try to make the attempt for the effort then I'll start screaming cheering improving the Play Ozzy just because I want them to be making me attempts to get to work turned in this screen I'm going to put it on my homepage would it be like to screenshot it right now you can this is the quickest easiest way to get tech support during distance learning I am trying my best to troubleshoot Tech I'm trying over my head so I've been asking tech for a lot of help this morning there's a lot of Zoom trouble and I think that it's because of all the parents logging into the zooms and videos for other teachers in the district I think the North Star so I hope now the zoom is working his working Lil Bit better like I said I would be putting this on my homepage for you to access as well and I'm sure it's been sent out before ways to contact as many as you know I have my phone on me at all times so if you have a message or a question or you just want to mess me and talk about how your students doing class what they're doing in class anything any questions feel free to let me know I feel free I feel the last two weeks have just been me talk about the shirt orders which has been a pain in my side as well and I'm more info about that the house term remaining little bit if you ever have a question concerned for me please feel free to email me at the end I posted on the title screen send a message to remind some things have been messaging me on canvas that's okay but I will probably see remind quicker because I don't get notifications like I do with remind so remind me to put her way to find me if you're bacon into Inc contact me through the inbox in canvas I'm okay with that I try to get back to me as fast as possible from 8 till about 3:40 everyday I am on canvas time on zoom zoom have my phone with me might have had with me so ways to contact me if I don't respond right away I'm probably helping someone else or I'm working on assignment or something or grating trying to get caught up if you have a question while we are not in a zoom meeting my zoom will still be accessible so they just try to get the meeting I was getting update through my email saying hey so-and-so has logged into your zoom and that's how I will get back in there so I want them to feel like they can still contact me on zoom and I'll still be in this afternoon at work where they can you hop on zoo was on 5 minutes to work on it so I will try to be as quick to my responses with Dad as possible and lastly here to never forget for a negative because of all the virus and the negative things the fires right now but we will make a year never forget for good reason I my mindset is killing with kindness so I'm trying to always put a smile on their faces that way they're in good spirits we can get learning happening so as always feel free to let me know if you have any questions and I'll get to them as soon as I can
